Chamber Industrial Improv Sessions

Both performed by the Ecce Ensemble

 

In 2014 the Ecce Ensemble recorded an album of my compositions - Chamber Industrial, currently available on Tzadik. The sessions took place at EMPAC over the course of several days, and involved a variety of absolutely phenomenal performers. Ensconced in such a beautiful space, and in the company of such amazing players, we would have been foolish not to set aside some time for improvisation sessions.

The first session, Pt1 - Ecce Orchestra, was (as I recall, it’s been a while) completely open, involving no formal planning.
For the second, Pt2 - Sifting Ensembles, we specified that a limited number of performers could play simultaneously. Who came in and who dropped out was negotiated on the fly.
