About MaxOrch

MaxOrch, available as both a Max patch and an app, is designed to act as a user interface for the Orchidea Max objects. These objects are incredibly powerful and feature-rich, but the learning curve is a bit steep. The developers, Per Bloland and Jérôme Lesueur, set out to design an interface to make the features easier to access and offer detailed explanations about their implementation.

MaxOrch is currently in beta testing.

About Orchidea

Developed by Carmine Emanuele Cella.

Orchidea is a set of Max objects designed for computer-assisted orchestration. At its most basic, one selects a database of samples (often orchestral instruments) and a target audio file. Orchidea analyzes the target audio file and produces a score and a composite audio file that is a realization of that score.

More from the Orchidea website:
Orchidea is a framework for static and dynamic computer-assisted orchestration.

It is the new generation of the Orchid* softwares for assisted orchestration (originally created at Ircam). It is a joint project between Ircam, HEM Geneve and UC Berkeley and is made of several tools, including a standalone application, a Max package and a set of command line tools.
